CLASSIFICATION: Support Staff - 10 Month Position
STATUS: Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY: Provide assistance with food production. Responsible for dish-room set up, dishwasher operation and putting away of clean utensils, dishes, pots and pans.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure the set-up of the serving line, assemble proper serving utensils, serves food at correct temperatures, serve lines; clean between serving periods, efficiently and in a positive attitude.
- Assist with food preparation according to Head Cook’s directives.
- Maintain temperature records for each lunch line.
- Prepare the dish room by filling detergent and drying agents to begin operations, ensuring water is the correct temperature (wash at 140°F-160 F and rinse at 180°F). Record the temperature daily on the temperature log.
- Scrape and load soiled dishes in the appropriate racks. Run silverware through twice to ensure it is properly sanitized.
- Unload clean dishes and silverware and replenish clean dishes to the serving area.
- Ensure the rinsing and sanitation of all pot sinks.
- Clean and sanitize dish machine inside and outside.
- Practice safe food preparation, care of equipment and strong sanitation standards.
- Drain dish machine and clean the tank and filters. De-lime machine once a week.
- Clean dish room counter, floor, walls, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Cook or Food Service Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma necessary
A minimum of one-year food service experience
An ability to follow instructions and operate independently
Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994
Submission of Federal Criminal History Record in accordance with Act 114 of 2006
Submission of the Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form as required under Act 24 of 2011
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
